Get Your “Summer Bod” Without The Hefty Gym Price

Summer is right around the corner and we all want to get our bodies in tip top shape before beach season arrives. Unfortunately, gym memberships can get pretty costly; the average person spends between $400-$800 a year on their memberships! Lucky for us, there are tons of activities to do at home or out in mother nature that will not only help you lose weight and get toned, but also fit the bill.

Running in Your Neighborhood:

Sometimes we can forget that we have a gym in our own backyard! Who needs a treadmill when there is open-road just feet outside of our front doors. Put on those tennis shoes and just start running!

Abs Before Breakfast:

Start your day off right by adding a simple and easy ab workout to your morning routine. Take a look at these exercises that will take little to no time, and require no equipment other than you!

Go For a Swim:

Whether you have a swimming pool in your backyard or have access to the ocean or a nearby lake, swimming has been proven to be one of the best full body workouts out there. Especially during the hot summer months, what could be better than dipping in the water to cool off while simultaneously getting toned? Kill two birds with one stone and jump in head first!

Online Yoga Classes:

At the beginning of 2020, no one knew how to survive without a gym. Luckily for us, many people started offering their yoga classes free online and have kept it up as the year went on. There are tons of sites out there, but you can find a list of some of the best ones here.

Hike:

Hiking is one of our favorite activities because not only do you get a great workout in, you also get to soak in all of the beauty that the outdoors has to offer. Make it a weekend ritual and get your friends and family involved too! Trust us, it may not feel like a crazy workout because you’re having so much fun, but you will definitely feel the burn.

Paddle Board:

If you haven’t tried paddle boarding, this is the summer to do it! Paddle boarding is a great low impact workout that helps strengthen your upper body as well as strengthen your core while you balance.

Walk or Bike Instead of Drive:

If you are going somewhere nearby try walking instead of driving, and for those longer trips, hop on a bike! If you don’t own a bike, there are tons of companies out there that offer bike-shares such as Lime or Jump. Take a look online and see which ones are offered in your city.

Fitness Equipment at Home:

You don’t need fancy gym equipment in order to get your dream body. Sometimes all you need is an inexpensive jump rope, some dumbbells or even just a medicine ball and you will get the perfect workout from the comfort of your own home.

Weight Free Exercises For Upper Body:

Don’t feel like hitting the weights? These awesome at home exercises require no equipment at all. Take a peak and start breaking a sweat.

Staying active, no matter what activity you choose, will help you get into tip top shape and save you from those hefty gym membership prices. Be good to your body, and your wallet by just moving. Remember, if you are struggling financially, Madison Monroe & Associates is here to help.
